About this Episode

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus - Matthew 26: 14-16
14 Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What will you give me if I betray him to you?” They paid him thirty pieces of silver. 16 And from that moment he began to look for an opportunity to betray him.

*Moment of Reflection: *
Reading this, one wants to condemn Judas. However, how often do we vacillate from being an anointer to a betrayer? How often do we make decisions based on what will benefit ourselves when it may be to someone’s detriment? How often do we do that to God? How often do we turn our backs to God’s commands to satisfy ourselves? We can learn a lot from Judas. He was Jesus’ friend and faithful follower, but he turned his back on Jesus for a financial reward. We must evaluate every decision based on what God teaches us to do, not on our own understanding.

*Questions for Reflection: *
As you evaluate the main areas of your life, where are you looking to your own understanding for guidance rather than God’s? What steps can you take to shift your focus to God and continue to live for Jesus rather than yourself?

*Prayer: *
Dear God, please help us live for you and not for ourselves. We know that when we live according to your will, we will bear good fruit and flourish. Amen.
